You know those conversations where even though you've heard some version of it multiple times, something about the way someone said it, or maybe just the fact that you were ready to receive it, but something just clicked. That was my episode with Jen from Becoming Iconic. You may remember her from episode 51 where we talked about sales being a natural extension of marketing your business. This is a short clip that I saved from that episode where Jen gave me a pep talk slash mini coaching session that clicked all kinds of things into place for me. Hey friend, I'm Jamie Renee and this is the Perfection Not Required podcast. On this show, we talk about building a sustainable online business from the inside out. Something I've struggled with as I've pivoted my way into business, and something that's definitely an inside job is how to market myself. Let's jump right in this little coaching session from Jim because there is so much value packed into this little bite-size episode.

And so what we need to do is own who we are today, look at our experience, gather that together, be confident enough that we have something to offer. And then where are we going? Spend more time declaring and sharing where you're going. And this will be the antidote to any stagnant feeling in your business. And we'll start having people be like, wow, I want to go along that journey with her.

SPEAKER_00

I love that. And it feels like for me, like I'll just be frank, like I want to call myself a business coach. And what I mean, what that means to me is like the back end side of business, like the systems, the tech, the you know, the workflows and all of that nerdy stuff that I'm like really good at. But you know, whenever like you try to put that out there, like, oh, I'm a business coach, it just feels like out of whack a little bit. But I think that I can take that step forward, knowing, like, okay, yes, I'm a business coach as far as these skills I do have. I have honed these skills, I know how to do these things. And then I don't even know where it's like it was so clear whenever you were speaking, and now it's just like it gets so metty. And I feel like that's what happens to where it's just like, oh, yes, yes, yes. And then it's like, oh, I can do this. And then you get this like okay, but how does that work in my situation? Like, could you break that down? Is that something that you'd be willing to do? Like to help me sort this out. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Can you feel me? Like, I'm like itching here. I'm like, well, here, what I see, Jamie, is we're just once again putting ourselves back in a box. We love to fit into things because that's what we've been taught, and that we've been really good at that all our lives. We fit into school, and then you get out of school and you go get a degree, and then you get a job, and this is my title, and this is what I do, and and everything is boxed. And what we're going through right now as women is a total rebellion. I mean, it's it's really ripping these boxes open. You are not meant to fit into a title. So there you go. Business coach probably isn't the correct title for you. I think the whole thing with Instagram bios have really had us like get in our way because how could we possibly express who we are in 30 characters?

SPEAKER_00

Right?

SPEAKER_01

Like it's not that simple. It's impossible. It is. There's no way you or I or even someone who's 18 years old just coming out into going to college or whatever they're doing, even with the small life experience she has, how can you possibly fit that into 30 characters? So, what we do is we want to like give ourselves titles to fit into things so other people understand us. And I would suggest give them the benefit of the doubt that they will understand you by saying, I am your automation leader. I am the person who can teach you how to have your whole back end so streamlined that when someone comes in, the customer experience is like no other. You separate yourself because the customer's experience is so exceptional and they feel so seen and cared for that you have lifelong clients. That's what automation does. That's what a business does when someone walks in the door and it's it's like, wow, I've never experienced this before. You get to provide that to somebody in their business. So instead of boxing it, rip it the box open and just say, here's what I'm doing currently, and that will obviously shift and mold and pivot and become and evolve over time. Not, you know, it's I guess it's the permission, Jamie, to not have to pinpoint it so clearly and instead let the audience realize, like, wow, you've got a lot of offer through all these posts that you create on different subjects around automation, tools, technology, etc. There's a need for that in the marketplace. A lot of people want to teach mindset. There's a lot of people teaching mindset. There's not a lot of people that can do mindset. And how do you actually build this thing that it lasts a lifetime to create a legacy?

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you for that. I mean, it is very helpful to kind of break it down with like a real example of, hey, this is where I'm at, you know. Ah, wasn't that so good? It gets me every time. If you want to hear more of Jen's fiery passion around all things sales and marketing, scroll back a few to episode 51 and give it a listen. I know that things have only minimally changed on the outside as I navigate this somewhat overwhelming season of my life and career, but the shift that this made for me on the inside has been incredible. The automations guide, the chat GPT workshop, the move into YouTube, all of those things are a result of this conversation. So big thanks to Jen. I'll link her socials up again in the show notes and the original episode as well. That's it, friend. I'll catch you next time.
